Congratulations to Joo Hyeong Yoo. He wanted to enter the Robert
Turner Piano Competition to build up his resume for college
entrance. We worked together on the Mozart Piano Concerto in A major for
about six months. The judges' comments included: "...nice work," and "your
articulations are good," and "you play with a care to each note and an
even tone." Also, he and Oriana Falla and William Byun are going soon for the Certificate of Merit from The Music Teacher's
Association of California.
Honors like these take more work and
more lesson time. I will only be helping students who really practice! Let
me know if you want to enter one of these vigorous programs. They provide
"a systematic plan to develop performance skill, technique, ear-training
and sight-reading skills, and music theory." You could also get a
certificate for playing a solo at one of the association's monthly
recitals.
We're moving to our own studio!! New students are needed. (Remember you
get a free lesson for bringing a new student.). New Programs are forming
right now: a once-a-month class for group singing and playing
because making music is fun "in concert" with others.. Both whoever
doesn't usually sing, and students who love singing (means everybody!)
should be in this class. The piano work will be duets and Quartets
Materials will be provided. It should be just ten dollars more a month if
you choose it. We're also
planning the chance to play in some small recitals at some senior
centers.
Music Camp this summer will include singing and dancing, games,
trips. We were thinking that it should be the end of the summer, when the
kids are really bored. It would be all morning, like 9:00 to 12:00,
probably the last week of August.. Maybe we could add another one-week
camp the last week of July. What do you think? It would cost something
like $125. You
can invite your friends to enroll in Music Camp with you.
